Celebrating 20+ Years of Making Export and Import Simple for You! Dunlap International Inc. was founded in 1990 by Karen Dunlap, who today still serves as President and General Manager. Karen Dunlap became an entrepreneur by accident, when the Export Management Company she worked for abruptly closed its doors due to a terminal illness of its owner. Encouraged by friends and clients, and guided by her own dream, Karen established Dunlap International, Inc., providing quality documentation and logistics management services to companies that did not have their own in-house staff. She strongly believed that the world of international trade was available to all companies - not just large multinational corporations. Over the years, Karen has grown Dunlap International from a simple dream of sharing her international business expertise with others in need into a full service Global Solutions Trading Company, helping hundreds of customers across the United States and around the globe meet their international trade goals. As the Dunlap motto says "The World Is Yours If You Seek It". About the Owners Karen Dunlap - President and General Manager A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Karen received her degrees in Spanish and History from Mount Mercy College, lived in Spain and Mexico, and has worked in various aspects of international trade throughout her professional career. Her 30 plus years of international business experience includes international banking, exports operations for an Iowa manufacturing firm and export management.In 1990, Karen launched Dunlap International, Inc. to provide export documentation and logistics assistance to companies that do not have their own international operations staff. From a simple documentation service, Dunlap International, Inc. has continued to met the changing needs of our clients by adding in-house training and customized consulting on specific trade problems. In May 1991, the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce recognized Karen Dunlap as Entrepreneur of the Year, and again in 1998 for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Karen has served on the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce International Trade Bureau Advisory Committee as well as the former International Business Advisory Committee for Kirkwood Community College. In 2000, Karen was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Iowa District Export Council, and is currently serving her third term on the DEC. Karen is also active in the community, volunteering for Boy Scouts, 4-H and Camp Fire USA. Craig Dunlap - Vice President and Special Projects Manager A Hopkinton, Iowa native, Craig served 3 years in the US Army as a Air Defense Missile System electrical and maintenance mechanic. He lived in Germany for two years and travelled extensively throughout Europe. Following his military service, Craig returned to the U.S. where he joined National Oats Company, now Ralston Foods of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. During the past 35 years at Ralston Foods, Craig has earned both his Journeyman Sheet Metal and Industrial Journeyman Electrician degrees and is currently Senior Electrician. In addition to his farming background and journeyman degrees, Craig has extensively cross trained as a machinist/high speed industrial repairman. As Dunlap International's Special Projects Manager, Craig users his vast mechanical background to classify products under the Harmonized Tariff System and assists with interpretation of blueprints and other electrical/mechanical requirements for sale, installation and service.
